Roseline Journey - Part 1

1. MABEN STONE

The Mabon (Lochmaben) Stone at Stormont, near Gretna, marks the boundary between Scotland and England. Its strategic position is the starting point of the Roseline in Scotland. The Mabon stone was named for Mabon, the Celtic God of fertility, corn harvest, equilibrium and equinox. The 23rd of September is his festival date, the day of autumnal equinox, when we experience equal hours of light and darkness. The Northern hemisphere transcends into Autumn and Winter and the Southern hemisphere into Spring and Summer. It is where the Celtic culture celebrated and empathised with nature and emulated the emblazonment of Man and Woman as 50/50 equal partners synthesising into ONE.

The Mabon (pronounced may-bon, May-Born) Stone overlooks the Solway-Sunsway Firth, the main breeding and nesting ground of the Graylag Goose. The goose is Maben’s totem animal. The geese migrate northwards towards Iceland in autumn and return the following spring. They follow the full distance of the Scottish Roseline from Solway to Orkney. The Graylag's breeding cycle was worshipped by the Celts who adopted them into their patterns and symbols and used them in exquisite designs on almost everything (Clothes, tattoos, jewellery, standing stones) to express Mother Nature’s language.

The geese always fly in the sacred Λ when going northwards, which the Celts regarded as the symbol for male and fire; and V when travelling south, the symbol for female and water. When, inevitably, the two opposites meet you get the sacred union ♦.

The Celtic calendar was based on the 13 lunar month calendar, which was a mirror of the female number of ovulations. 13 months of 28 days equals 364. They would have a femmine fertility festival on May Born/ Mabon day. The Celts named this Beltane, to celebrate and worship the feminine Mother of Earth and fertility “Tara”. A considerable amount of Celtic stone circles have 13 stones, a good example may be found at Callanish on the Isle of Lewis, the one at Mabon with two remaining stones was cleared in the late 17th century when the tenant farmer set about “clearing away” the stones as they ruined the field's appearance. The owner Lord Mansfield turned up in the nick of time to save the future of the famous megalith.

Isaac Newton's tomb in Westminster Abbey portrays Newton in a state of horizontal lounging on top of an unfinished pyramid shaped rest, his arm is on a pile of books, while two angels look on. Behind him is a celestial Orb, sitting within another pyramid. This is inscibed with the signs of the Zodiac and depicts Halley's comet, the same that was seen in 1681 and 1066.

William Kent's composed Orb and Pyramid is a highly respected work of art that captures the essential and distinctive virtues of Newton's illustrious life. Newton's eureka moment of brilliant discovery was when he calibrated the true values of the base measurement of the Grand Pyramid as one whole year 365.2422 days and grasped this calendrical measurement to synchronise the grand circle of perceived time, as seen from Earth, that goes round the astronomical constellation of the Zodiac.

Isaac Newton's description of the motion of the planets is based on precise measurement and supremely accurate calculations. The Earth travels 1 degree of this cycle every 72 years, therefore the full 360 degree circle is invariably known as the Precision of the Equinoxes, 360 times 72 = 25920 years.

The ancient yet highly developed South American MAYAN (may(b)an) civilization, renowned for their sophisticated mathematical and astronomical insight, were able to calculate the Precision of the Equinoxes. The Mayan Long Count calendar associated with death and rebirth reaches its conclusion on the pronounced prophetic date of the 21st of December 2012.

Curiously, Eros (anagram for rose) the Greek god of LOVE is destined to have his next orbital close shave with Earth on January 31 2012 in the form of the 21 mile long, figure 8 shaped asteroid. Eros takes 846 days to have its synodic conjunction, the inverted number 648 is the half of 1296.

Newton and modern day Astronomers traditionally proclaim the Alnitak star as seen from earth as the ecliptic prime meridian marker, the Great Pyramid at Giza is the parallel mirror spot to calculate and calibrate the start and finish of the prime meridian, "as above so below". The prominent historical date 180 degree half circle of complete time is calculated at half of 25920 years = 12960 years 1296 is when the Stone of Destiny was stolen from Scone and taken to Westminster Abbey.

Roslin Chapel's reverential inner chest lid ceiling has 215 carvings of stars and flowers superimposed over the heavens. This compares with the last distinctive celestial conjunctive number of 216. 2160 years when divided into 25920 gives us the number 12, which is coherent with the Zodiac and the transilient leap from one period ending to the next starting.

William Murray, the 5th Viscount of Stormont was born at Scone on March 2, 1705. He was educated at Perth and Westminster schools, then went on to study at Christchurch, Oxford. His family were well known Jacobite sympathisers.

Murray's ascent to the summit of the British Judiciary was completed in 1756 when he was sworn in as the first Scot to become Lord Chief Justice of England. Shortly afterwards, in response to his growing reputation, he was honoured with the title, The First Lord Mansfield. In 1776 he was created Earl. He died on 28th of March 1793.

Considered by many to be the supreme judge and lawyer, Lord Mansfield was seen by his peers as the "Godfather" and Architect of commercial and property law and the man recognised for modernising the antiquated common law and copywrite law. His judgements and proposals were even adopted by other nations, including the U.S. forming the foundation of their judicial systems.

Mansfield is buried at the main entrance to Westminster Abbey. His large, white marble monument is placed like a sentinel behind the toll booth. His constrained posture and gaze are firmly fixed on the wall. If these walls were invisible, he would be in direct eye contact with Isaac Newton. X marks the spot.

He is the ROSELINE'S GATEKEEPER.

The statue shows Lord Mansfield seated in judicial robes, flanked by figures of Justice and Wisdom, while to the rear is a seated youth representing Death.

Behind the figures of Justice and Wisdom are two pine cone symbols.

In Wolfram von Eschenbach's Arthurian Legends, his pure innocent fool Parzival, undertakes a quest for the Grail. Parzival becomes guardian of the sacred, blood spouting spear that pierced the redeemer's ribs, it's tip is the shape of a pine cone. The Key to the Grail Mysteries will be more apparent, when we reintegrate this allegory with the cone shaped pineal gland, the body's vestigial third eye and spirtual transmitter.

The Grail quest symbology is common to Celtic, Christian and Buddhist tradition. When we translate the quest for Shambala (Shangri-La), the mystical Kingdom hidden somewhere beyond the snowpeaks of the Himalayas, we find our young adventurer, after several years in the mountains and a series of life and death encounters, asking a wise old man for directions to the Kingdom of Shambala. The old man replies " You need travel no further, my son! What you seek is to be found within your heart, only take the time to stop and search for it!".

In 1772, Lord Mansfield, never shy to make a decision, was responsible for the key judgement ending slavery in England.

In what was to be reffered to as the James Somerset Case, an escaped slave, who had been recaptured and was waiting aboard ship to be sent back to Jamaica, was brought before the courts, with the aid of the anti-slavery lobby, to sue for his freedom. The case eventually came before the King's Bench (the highest court in the land) and before Lord Mansfield as Lord Chief Justice. His judgement on the case - decrying the state of slavery as so odious it should never be seen, effectively abolished slavery in the United Kingdom and led to its later abolition throughout the British Empire.

14000 British black slaves were set free from their restraint and bondage, bringing to a swift end a chapter of incomprehensible shame, guilt and sinfulness. Lord Mansfield's verdict caused outrage and acrimony, the British Empire's ascendancy was at stake, an unimaginable future, without the highly profitable slaves, was seen by many at the time as an act of betrayal. Several years after this profound amendment, the U.S. anti-slave lobby headed by the Quakers were making inroads into the American slave trade.

The present Lord Mansfield is also the 13th Viscount Stormont and Lord Scone, 11th Lord Balvaird and Hereditary Keeper of Robert the Bruce's castle of Lochmaben in Dumfries.

The Mabon Stone is situated in the Dumfries and Galloway region of Scotland, and retains the distinction of being the first place visited by a Bishop in Scotland. Iin 397AD, Saint Ninian, who had studied in Rome, was given the task of converting the Picts by Pope Saint Siricius. Subsequently, Galloway people adopted the name GALLOWAY from "GALILEE" which means "the ENTRANCE(porch)or CHAPEL in the WEST."

Merlin, whom we know is connected to this area, and who was regarded as the Chief Druid. was also one of the stone's worshippers. During the last millennium the Mabon stone has been utilised as a gathering site to amass the Scottish Army, also to exchange prisoners of war and to collect taxes.

The JOHN(stone) Clan would have been historically the main guardians of the stone and the adjacent lands, they can trace their Clan roots in the area to almost the start of the first Millennium.

The powerful Maxwell Clan, based at Caerlaverock Castle during the middle ages, were the neighbours and bitter enemies of the Johnstones. The Maxwells had the unenviable task of being Wardens in the lawless borderland between Scotland and England. After the untimely death of King Alexander on the cliffs of Kinghorn in 1286, the Anglo-Scottish frontier became a home to rustlers, outlaws and gangsters for almost 300 years, the time of the Border Reivers. Some of the Reiver tribes actually thrived on this diet of combat, feud, theft and blackmail, their allegiances and loyalties bought and sold at auction.

If only the Stone could speak!

Perhaps it was their Reiver ancestry that gave the three powerful American presidents of the pivotal 1960's the perfect combination of talents to preside over the profound changes of a decade which began with John F Kennedy's dream of landing a man on the moon by the end of the decade and ended in the triumph of Apollo, ancient equivalent of Mabon.

Of course, it fell to another descendant of a famous Reiver clan to utter two of the best known phrases in the English language when Neil Armstrong remarked on touchdown "Houston, this is Tranquility Base. The Eagle has landed." and later, on descending to the surface of the Moon, " That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for Mankind. "

His exhilarated President, Richard Nixon viewed the proceedings from the Oval Office of the White House. The mission fulfilled President John. F. Kennedy's APOLLO goal of reaching the moon by the end of the 1960s.

Deceit and blatant lies cut short Nixon's term. Relentless media coverage spawned the "Water Gate" scandal. In a desperate and agonising appeal to the nation, the distressed Nixon choose to profess his own innocence and deny his guilt on national T.V. On August 9, 1974 Nixon became the only U.S. President in history to resign from office. He was facing likely impeachment and possible subsequent conviction from the House Judiciary Committee. Conspiracy, wiretapping, espionage and secret funds for "hush money" were all investigated by the F.B.I. and Senate Watergate Committee. This resulted in a number of key White House advisers being found guilty and sent to prison. The master contriver's secrets were shamefully exposed. Investigators even questioned the authenticity of the lunar landings?

While the world looked on and contemplated the next step in Man's planetary space ambition agenda, the Catholic Church, after introspection and deep internal discord, decided to take the gamble to release a very sensitive subtle announcement. The sanction and condemnation of Mary Magdalene was now lifted and her label of "whore" ignited and evaporated in the rocket fuel wake of '69. Salvation from sin was now ratified by the Church, the miscarriage of justice of the Piscean age confirmed she was most the misinterpreted Lady in history. Now with her shackles removed she is free to step up to the mark and inherit her destined title of High Priestess.

In Galloway, Druid and Pagan worship still exists locally. The Wicca music festival is gathering momentum to be one of the most fashionable gigs of the year. The name was taken from the original Wicker Man film that was shot on location here starring Edward Woodward and Christopher Lee.

2. GRETNA GREEN

Next we move on to Gretna Green, a small village on the West Coast. Gretna is a town dedicated to the union of marriage. Last year over 5,500 weddings were hosted, around 19 % of all weddings held in Scotland. Contrary to popular belief there are many locations for weddings and not just the Blacksmith's Shop. Almost every family in Gretna Village is somehow employed by the fast food style marriage industry; whether it be photographers, florists, caterers or hotels, as every bride knows, it takes a lot of dedication and attention to detail to have the "Perfect Day".

The runaway marriages became popular in 1753 when Lord Hardwicke’s Marriage Act was passed in England. This stated that if both parties to a marriage were not at least 21, then consent to the marriage had to be given by the parents. This act did not apply in Scotland, where it was possible for boys to get married at 14 and girls at 12, without parental consent. This led to many elopers fleeing England and making for the first Scottish village they came to – Gretna Green. The old Blacksmith’s workshop was built around 1712 and Gretna Hall Blacksmith's shop became, in popular folklore at least, the focal point for the marriage trade.

It is noteworthy that we find a Blacksmith's Marriage Mecca almost at the start of our Roseline trail. The Blacksmith plays a pivotal role in the Grail romances. When Perceval's sword is broken in two his strength and worth are rendered useless. He requests the help of the Smith to reforge the two as one (in male/female union) so that his mission of finding the Grail and healing the wastelands can continue.

The Blacksmith and his anvil have become the lasting symbols of Gretna Green Weddings. Scottish law allowed for ‘irregular marriages’, meaning that, so long as a declaration was made in front of two witnesses, almost anybody had the authority to conduct the marriage ceremony. The local blacksmiths became known as “Anvil Priests”. The blacksmith marries hot metal to metal over the anvil, in the same way the Anvil Priests forged a union between couples who had eloped in love.

“As the Blacksmith joined, with the hammer and anvil two metals (GOLD MARRIAGE RINGS) in the heat of the fire so now you two are joined, never to be separated.”

It is a common belief that white has always been the colour of a traditional wedding dress. Actually, the first person to wear a white wedding dress was Mary Queen of Scots and it became popular in 1840 when Queen Victoria was married. The official wedding portrait photograph was widely published and many brides opted for a similar dress in honour of that choice. In fact the normal attire for a wedding would have been your Sunday best or Clan Tartan.

The anvils in Gretna were red hot when Gretna broke their records on the lucky date of 7th July 2007 (7/7/7) when 78 loving couples tied the knot from as far a field as U.S, Canada, Austria and Italy. St Valentine’s Day, 14th February 2007, only managed a respectable 44 ceremonies.

Seven is seen as a number sent from heaven with:

Seven colours in a rainbow. Seven names in the Bible for the Ark of the Covenant. Seven great wonders of the Ancient world. The Book of Revelation is divided into seven cycles of events. The seven branching lamp holder of the Menorah casts it's shadowy light on the opening pages of Revelations, symbolical narration that interlinks the worlds seven principal religions and churches. They, in turn are helped and guided by the 7 prominent Sophia Angels that converge and assemble ALL into ONE main stem(lamp stand) before THE THRONE IN HEAVEN.

It took seven years to build King Solomon’s Temple, Seven is regarded as a sacred number in Masonic symbology. There are seven chakras located in the human body, when on the spiritual pathway the energy charkas are activated to climb the divine ladder commonly know as Jacob’s Ladder. When Mary Magdalene exorcised the seven demons many people perceived this act as her own transformation and spiritual ascension through the seven chakras. So the daughter of “Sion” was fully conscious of her role and her own covenant with God and communication with the holy spirit.

3. BRUCE'S CAVE

Bruce’s Cave is located at Cove Farm near to the village of Kirkpatrick Fleming. It is one of five Bruce’s caves, all claiming the title of the famous King's hideaway after suffering defeat for the sixth time against the mighty English Army. Bruce went into hiding in 1313 to evade capture by King Edward II. He spent three months living a solitary existence. It was at this time the legend of the persistent battling spider emerged, after six failed attempts to finish building her web the spider, against all odds in the howling wind of the cave entrance and with relentless patience and determination managed to finish building her web; thus ensuring her future. One year later Bruce famously claimed victory on 24th June 1314 at Bannockburn. Bruce said he was given renewed heart and vigour from the spider and was famously quoted saying:

“If at first you don’t succeed try, try and try again.”

The entrance of the cave was recently cleaned and cleared, this revealed a series of Knights Templar and Masonic marks on the soft red sandstone. Also discovered is what looks like a primitive binary writing, similar to the Lombard writing at Roslin Chapel. As to date nobody has been able to decipher its message.

The cove cave would certainly have been a good contender as the authentic hideaway of Bruce. He would have fished in the Kirtle River and explored the area as a young boy as it is only a few miles away from where the young King to be was born and raised, at Loch Maben Castle in 1274. The Roseline runs close to the cave.

King Robert the Bruce’s grandfather, the 5th lord of Annandale, was descended from Royal Norman lineage known as “Rex Deus”; that would give his family a claim to the Crown of Scotland. He was married to Isabelle De Clare, whose ancestors were one of the nine De Clare’s that were related to, and fought with William the Conqueror at the Battle of Hastings. His son Robert De Brus also known as Robert Bruce (1250-1304), the 6th Lord of Annandale and Earl of Carrick, Jure Uxoris (by right of ones wife), was a feudal Lord in Scotland and England during the prelude to the Wars of Scottish Independence.

A great number of the Scottish/Norman families were heavy participants in the Holy Crusades and appear to have served either as Templars or under Templar leadership. During the eighth crusade a 1000 strong Scottish contingent served under King Louis IX of France. Robert De Brus, heir to the Lordship of Annandale, was a participant along with Adam De Kilconcath, one of his companion-in-arms who subsequently died in battle in 1270 in the Holy land. Robert was obliged to be bearer of the sad news to Adam's widow, Marjorie of Carrick (1256-1292), who was the daughter and heiress of Niall, Earl of Carrick (in Ayrshire) who held the title of Mormaer, which meant secound only to the King of Scots. In true fairytale fashion Young Robert went to become Marjorie’s Knight in shining Armour in her hour of need. They fell in love, married and had nine children, the eldest being Robert The Bruce, the King of spider in the cave fame.

Sir Niall Campbell was a staunch ally of King Robert Bruce and William Wallace. Wallace's grandmother was allso from the Campbell clan. The Scottish freedom fighter, whom had done his homework with the help of the Angels that informed and directed his cause. This ancient Scottish clan claim to be from the Royal King David lineage, as confirmed bye Bruce's address in the Declaration of Arbroath in 1320. Cailean Mór's alas Sir Colin Campbell mother Affrica of Carrick is acknowledged as being the first cousin of King Robert's mother, Marjorie, Countess of Carrick, Niall was the elder son of Cailean Mór-Sir Colin Campbell,it may come as no surprise Niall received Mary Bruce, King Robert's sister in marriage which raises a few questions which line was deemed to be of true "Sword in Stone" King Arthur authenticity. Stones play a adjustable relationship in bible-grail perplexity, arousal of megalith Scottish historic secrets is enriched when we find the definition of Carrick comes from Carraig, which in turn is ancient Scots-Irish for Rock-Stone, this barely anonymous disclosure has more credence of a Carrick-Stone Royal dynasty that (1)Peter chapter 2:3 relays............"The Living Stone and a Chosen People" the Ayr-Heirs of Carrick had a divine cause towards the oppression of there country, William Wallace the unbeatified guardian of his country's extraordinary history new the secrets of the hidden "Stone the builders rejected!"

The eminent Campbell Clan had lands and Castles that equalled there stealthy genealogical standing that stretched Argyll and Johnstone-Perthshire, Ayrshire and Moray.

One man who claimed to be kin of the Bruce family was James Bruce (December 14, 1730 – April 27, 1794), a Scottish aristocrat, who farmed the estate of Kinnaird, near Airth in Stirlingshire. His wife died in October 1754, within nine months of marriage, and Bruce thereafter travelled in Portugal and Spain. The examination of oriental manuscripts at the Escurial led him to the study of Arabic and Ge'ez and determined his future career. Scottish traveller and travel writer who spent more than a dozen years in North Africa where he traced the origins of the Blue Nile.
